Is It Time For Coffee?
I've meant to do more blogging, but I've let myself fall behind. So for this one, I'm going to keep the focus on a simple topic: coffee.
First off, I'm 26 years old and I've never had coffee before. In a world full of Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts, among others, you'd think I've have bought a cup by now, but no. Also, I think it's important to note that I'm named after coffee. Maxwell House was my mom's favorite brand of coffee and when she found out she was pregnant she stopped cold turkey. That was no easy task because apparently she used to drink 12 big soup bowl mugs of coffee a day. I don't think that was an exaggeration, since I remember always seeing those giant mugs in the kitchen as a kid.
I've had caffeine. I used to drink a lot of soda, but I've drastically cut down on that and now only have soda if I'm having booze. Tea is supposed to be a healthy source of caffeine, but I don't like how tea tastes. I've tried plenty of times, loading it up with sugar, but I can't stand it.
So let's get back to coffee. There's no guarantee that I'm going to like how it'll taste. There's a good change that I won't enjoy it the first time, but I'm willing to give it a couple of tries before I make a final decision.
Coffee is supposed to have a lot of good health benefits, but I'm most interested in the increase in energy. I like to think I'm an extremely productive person as is, and can only imagine how hyper I might become. Yet the allure of getting even more done is tempting...
When it comes to type of coffee, I was thinking about going with my parent's brand, "El Pico." It's a dark roasted espresso ground coffee. All I really know about it is that it smells really good. I have this small concern in the back of my mind that if I do get hooked on coffee, and a good one at that, it'll ruin the rest of the brands out there for me. But it's a risk I'm willing to take.
So think I'm going to try coffee. Part of me wants to wait until my birthday at the end of April, just because, but there's a good change I'll try it sooner. Either way I'll write a follow up to say how it went.
